Another look that really makes me feel HAPPY...

And as per usual, it all started with the bag. The FLESHTONE staff sent over these EXQUISITE "Kelly Saddle Bags" and I literally rezzed and cammed them for about ten minutes. Do you see the texture? I mean, how realistic can you get? The hardware is available in both silver and gold finishes, but of course I went with the latter. They are the PERFECT scale; they aren't too big, and they aren't too small. The "Kelly's"are most definitely a must have...

And my girl Viollette from [bellballs] sent over these 'Caged Rings' that I'm really feeling right now; I love bold, statement jewelry that's unique and one of a kind. Each ring has a different bird inside, and the cage is done in a beautiful burnished gold. I don't believe I've ever seen rings like this in SL before...have you? Vio is always making pieces that make me SMILE...

The skirt is new from Zaara, a brand that's always been very near and dear to my heart. I love these mini-skirts with the delicate ruffles, they feel like a bit of a departure from her normal aesthetic and they're perfect for spring. I was also looking for a reason to rock this new fedora from {mon tissu}, and all the green tones really lend themselves nicely to eachother. I always love shopping for new things, but there's something that feels so damn good about the CLASSIC PIECES in my wardrobe. Some items bring back memories; some make me feel warm and fuzzy; some just feel like HOME. I wore this PASHMINA SHAWL from ZAARA on my first date with my husband Tairo. It always transports me back to the time when he and I were first falling in love. Over two years old, and it's still texturely beautiful and relevant. The bag is VINTAGE and was a gift from my dear friend Alexand Vantelli. One of the most talented and stylish individuals I've ever had the pleasure of knowing; Alex is a POWERHOUSE that I'm hoping will join me for a blog post in the near future. The ring is from LaGyo and over time has become one of my signature pieces. I wear it in both gold and silver every chance I get because it reminds me of a real-life ring my late Grandmother passed down to me before she died. Last year I had a break-in and the ring was stolen, but every time I glance at this pixel version I'm reminded of her spirit and how ELEGANT AND TIMELESS she was. Lastly, the umbrella is super-old from Trilogy. It's so well made and is built with poses and animations that I just adore. My MOM collects umbrellas in rl and I have so many memories of my sister and I twirling them when we were little...

The Call For Couture...

A pet peeve of mine has always been the misuse of the word COUTURE in second life. I couldn't be happier that there's finally an event that exemplifies precisely what the term truly means. The Call For Couture Festival opened on October 10th, and closes October 31st. It includes an auction and 50% of those sales will be donated to The Samaritans-a 24 hour center devoted to suicide prevention and people in emotional crisis. Each designer participating has created a true COUTURE item to be auctioned off, and a corresponding ready-to-wear item or items available to the public for purchase at the event. The couture item up for auction will be 1 of only 5 copies of the piece in existence in the world.

I couldn't be happier to show you the couture and ready-to-wear garments from OSAKKI, one of my favorite brands in SL. My beautiful friend Kayshia Piers is back after hiatus with both a fresh perspective and new design aesthetic. I asked her about her inspiration behind these pieces and where her head was currently at...this is what she had to say:

[23:54]  Kaysha Piers: Well, I've been really going through alot of darkness lately...with my recent graduation from college I've lost alot of things, friends, people...especially this year I've experienced a death and a loss of love...I've been a little tortured from both.
[23:55]  Kaysha Piers: The mystery of things really has me inspired, just not knowing what will happen next is pretty mindblowing.
[23:56]  Kaysha Piers: Finding a nice medium between that and my love for couture clothing has really got me thinking about new design ideas and new concepts in general :)

The first time I saw these boots I knew they were special. SLink is one of the most prolific shoe brands in SL; the work of Siddean Munro never ceases to amaze me. She gets it right EVERY time.
